Scared to Death Best Halloween Pranks to Try
Scared to Death Best Halloween Pranks to Try Halloween is the time of year when you start craving candy corn and the delicious sounds of your roommateââ¬â¢s screams. Instead of just giving out treats this year, consider some of these amazing tricks that are sure to lodge themselves in your friendsââ¬â¢ memories (and nightmares) for years to come. Attack of the Killer Toilet Seat You know those snap fireworks that you used to get every year as a kid in the boxes of firecrackers? It seemed like they were only good for dropping on the ground and leaving tiny bombs of gunpowder all over your driveway. Not any more! If you live with a bunch of girls, there is nothing funnier than getting them where it really hurts ââ¬â right in the toilet seat. How To Set It Up Get a handful of leftover snap fireworks from the 4th of July. Gently place them around the ring of the toilet bowl underneath the toilet seat supports. Then, carefully lower the toilet seat so that it rests on the fireworks but doesnââ¬â¢t set them off. Then, when your roommate needs to desperately use the bathroom, theyââ¬â¢ll get the surprise of their lives. Zombie Pizza Is your roommate constantly eating your food? Well, its time to stop that. With just a little bit of effort, you can scare that stolen breakfast right out of their stomachs. How to Set It Up Get a handful of empty pizza boxes, about 7-10, and cut the centers out of the bottoms and tops except one. On one, cut out the bottom, but leave the box top attached. Stick them together (glue or duct tape) and leave the one with the whole top intact on top. Then, get a cheap card table, or a piece of thick cardboard that you can set up on top of some boxes. Cut a whole in that which will be covered by the boxes and that you can fit inside. Get a black sheet or tablecloth and cut a hole in that as well. This will cover up your legs. When you know your roommate will be coming home, set up the pizza ââ¬Å"tableâ⬠where he or she will see it. Leave a note saying that you got some pizzas for you to share. Then, when he opens the top box, pop out ââ¬â preferably in full zombie makeup! Perhaps you will need to read this blog post on how to apply Halloween makeup. Flesh-Eating Slug Floor If you are living with someone who is a bit squeamish when it comes to bugs and creatures, this is the perfect prank for them. Not only will it guarantee a scream, but it will motivate them to clean the floors before they head to bed. How to Set It Up First, you need to psychologically set this prank up by gradually explaining that youââ¬â¢ve seen a type of slug (the ââ¬Å"wherever you liveâ⬠Flesh-Eating Round Slug) in the morning or at night surrounding the beds. You can even plant one somewhere in the house to really get into their heads. Once he or she finds that one, youââ¬â¢re ready to move to the next phase of the plan. Get a bag of grapes at the store and peel them. After your roommate goes to sleep, place the grapes on his or her floor. Then, scream. Watch the hilarity as your roommate wakes up and tries to find out whatââ¬â¢s wrong ââ¬â and walks into the Flesh-Eating Slug infestation! Bloody Shower If you think the shower scene in ââ¬Å"Psychoâ⬠was scary, just wait until your roommate gets to play the leading role. The best part about this prank is that itââ¬â¢s easy to do, wonââ¬â¢t harm your house, and will be completely unexpected. How to Set It Up Unscrew the top of your showerhead and fill it with old Easter Egg dye, KoolAid, or food coloring (as red as you can get it). Screw it back on and test out your chosen method to make sure the color and consistency is what you want. After you get the perfect color, set it up for real by screwing the shower head back on and wait for your roommate to come home from the gym or work. If you want to know more tricks, you should also consider these April Fools Day pranks for college. Though they are not related to Halloween, you can still use them to play pranks. Happy Halloween! The Difference Between ââ¬Å"Traâ⬠and ââ¬Å"Fraâ⬠Thereââ¬â¢s no difference in meaning between the two forms. Which one you choose to use is governed by sound; Itââ¬â¢s much preferred to say fra travi and tra frati to avoid groups of identical sounds (other examples include tra fratelli and fra tre anni). Even so, tra is the more common form. Tip: If ââ¬Å"traâ⬠precedes personal pronouns, its often followed by the preposition: tra di noi.

Database Applications Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words
Database Applications - Essay Example n system (CIS) is frequently a minor track inside the computer science area pursuing the study of algorithmic and computers procedures, comprising their principles, hardware and software designs, applications, as well as influence on society. Generally, a IS field puts emphasis on functionality over design (Kwame & Oduro-Kwarteng, 2009). This report presents the advantages and disadvantages of implementing the new software using database technology. In additional, this report will describe the relational database model and the benefits of a DBMS. Also, this report will provide a detailed analysis of the databases and new software implementations. The implementation of modern and up-to-date techniques of information technology in any organization tends to powerfully influence the growth, utilization, and application of business information. In this scenario IS uses a series of processes and methodologies that could be employed to facilitate the development and utilization of an information system. In addition, a number of developers have developed and employed engineering technique like that system development life cycle (SDLC) that is a systematic process of developing an IS by dividing it into phases that occur in series. Additionally, an IS could be developed in house (inside the business) or outsourced (outsourcing to outside firm). Furthermore, this development could be more successful through outsourcing certain parts or the whole system (Kwame & Oduro-Kwarteng, 2009). Kwame & Oduro-Kwarteng (2009) stated that in wide sense, the term IS refers to the communication among algorithmic procedures and technology. However, this communication could happen inside or across organizational boundaries. In addition, an information system is not simply the technology that a business employs, however it is a way in which the organizations implement the cooperation of the technology with the organizationââ¬â¢s procedures. However, information systems are different from IT

Continental Airlines, Inc and McDonnell Douglas Corporation Article
Continental Airlines, Inc and McDonnell Douglas Corporation - Article Example The case was submitted to the jury. On the basis of Continentalââ¬â¢s theories of fraud, it was taken as evidence by the jury. Supreme Court ruling Hauter v. Zogarts (1975), it was held that the promises of safety were not statements of ââ¬Å"opinionâ⬠or just ââ¬Å"puffingâ⬠but representations of facts. Thus, the four representations of the brochure were not opinions but statements of facts. Further, the statements made by McDonnell Douglas were material. There is substantial evidence that Douglass statements regarding Landing Gear Breakaway were material and that Continental rightly trusted them in deciding to clinch the DC-10 deal. The court viewed the evidence in the light most well disposed to the judgment, taking all reasonable inferences and not taking conflicting evidence. There was evidence as quoted in section F that the landing gear was designed to break away from the wing without rupturing the wing fuel tank, which was material and rightfully trusted by Co ntinental. It is further proved by Douglass argument that Continental must prove that a clean landing gear breakaway was a condition of its decision to purchase the DC-10, rather than the L-1011, proving that Continental trusted the statements of McDonnell Douglas. California law is quite clear about whether it constitutes fraud making reckless false representations without any consideration to the truth. It states that ââ¬Å"[s]ince direct proof of fraudulent intent is often impossible, the intent may be established by [in]ference [216 Cal.App.3d 412] from acts of the parties.' [Citation]â⬠Another established law is that if evidence is applicable for any purpose it must be taken into consideration, even if it may not be proper for another purpose.à California law is quite clear

Freedom of the Press Essay The opinion of Americans about speech freedom is ambiguous. Ask any American, Kurtli writes, about disengagement of speech and media in the US, and you will hear a loud resentment from the irresponsibility of the media, who, without hesitation, climb into the privacy of the stars, politicians and ordinary citizens, reveal state secrets, thereby raising the ratings of TV programs and newspaper runs. Freedom Forum carried out a research on this topic. A survey carried out in 2002 showed that, in the opinion of 42% of the respondents, too much disengagement was provided to the media. The accuracy of this assessment is subjective. There is no doubt that the US legislation provides for perhaps the most extensive measures in the world to protect the rights of the media, as a result of which the guarantees of intellectual freedom in the United States are truly impressive. Americans value their disengagement of speech and media. This is due to the fact that it creates an intellectual market of ideas. The US media has a wide field for expressing opinions and stand guard, which allows the people to directly monitor government decisions and take part in them, and allows a wide variety of ideas to be tested in the market of symbolic designs. Such laws are based on the main rectification to the main law. This, in turn, means that the American defense of intellectual expression is based on the norms of English common law, in accordance with the nature and principles of which the laws are subject to exegetics by the judges. Such exegetics is carried out in the form of decisions on specific court cases instituted on the basis of claims by private individuals or the state represented by its public representatives. The prime adjudicator is the US Supreme Court. Before the victory in the War, the British colonies respected many laws of the Parliament governing the basic rules and setting the total volume of freedom of expression. Media was obliged to be licensed. Legally appointed officials were responsible for the conformity of future publications unacceptable in the society of that time and qualified as the dissemination of slanderous fabrications for subversive purposes. It is not surprising that by the end of the 18th century, the inhabitants of the North American colonies began to suffer from these restrictions. Then disengagement of speech became a sign of good governance. As Franklin himself wrote, freedom of the media is the disengagement, for which every pensioner should be ready to fight and die. The opinion of Franklin was shared by the largest theorists of American constitutionalism, Jefferson, and Madison. Jefferson believed that the political consciousness of the people depends directly on the freedom of the press. A free media is the only real guarantee of security for all. In turn, Madison argued that public administration without free circulation of information is a real prolog to farce and tragedy. As for the legal precedents of defending free-thinking, we can refer to the case when, on November 17, 1734, the newspaper publisher from New York was accused of disseminating slanderous fabrications for subversive purposes for publishing anonymous criticism in the New York Weekly Journal to the British governor-general Cosby. Thanks to a lawyer, the publisher was acquitted by a jury. The lawyer managed to convince the jury that no one can be sentenced to criminal punishment for public criticism of the authorities, especially when such criticism corresponds to the real state of affairs. Thus, the legal mechanism for protecting media and delivering a true date to people in America deserves attention and is an example to follow for many countries. Cannibalism and Feeding Habits of Dinosaurs Essays -- Exploratory Essa
Cannibalism and Feeding Habits of Dinosaurs Cannibalism is a long-standing taboo in our society; the thought of humans preying on other humans for a food source disgusts and astounds us. Though the practice is not common amongst modern day humans there is some evidence to suggest that ancient humans resorted to such measures, and a recent discovery in Madagascar attests to the possibility that some carnivorous dinosaurs fed on their own species (Perkins, 2003). Majungatholus atopus roamed the plains of northwestern Madagascar about 70 million years ago during the Late Cretaceous (Perkins, 2003; Rogers et al, 2003). The discovery of 21 tooth-marked elements originating from two Majungatholus atopus individuals suggests evidence that the dinosaur supplemented its diet by feeding on its own dead or hunting them (Rogers et al, 2003). It cannot be confirmed whether they were purely scavengers, hunters, or both. Scientists are certain that the marks are not the doing of any other predator because the teeth marks are not consistent with any other known species that lived in the area. Only one other theropod that inhabited the area during the time Majungatholus atopus did, Masiakasaurus knopfleri, had teeth and bite marks too small to have caused these markings. Two large crocodile species also shared the same ecosystem but their teeth were ââ¬Å"too blunt and too irregularly spaced to have produced the narrow grooves found on the Majungathol us bonesâ⬠(Perkins, 2003). The tooth marks on at least nine Majungatholus elements attest to intertooth spacing in the perpetrators jaw and denticle drag patterns consistent enough to make a compelling case for Majungatholus feeding on other Majungatholus (Rogers et al, 2003). The discove... ...ories of why dinosaurs went extinct abound, and as there is no theory yet to be truly confirmed as the ââ¬Å"right oneâ⬠, my theory of dinosaur cannibalism is also purely anecdotal. The discovery of the cannibalistic Majungatholus atopus in Madagascar is an important scientific find because it confirms a long-standing theory of cannibalism among certain carnivorous dinosaurs. Behavioral patterns of extinct animals are difficult to establish; however, these bones give authentication to previous unfounded beliefs about the ancient feeding practices of some dinosaurs. ââ¬Å"A sandwich is a sandwich, but a manwich is a mealâ⬠-Jeffery Dahmer References Perkins, Sid.2003 Family Meal: Cannibal dinosaur known by its bones. Godââ¬â¢s Hands Behind Boxing Gloves Essay
It was after the 1960 Rome Olympics. A well-built man stood by a river and threw a gold medal into the waters. He had been rejected entrance in an all-white gathering, he who had brought pride to his nation. à à à à à à à à à à à The man was Muhammad Ali. He showed that no amount of worldwide recognition can be balm enough to the injustices and racism that was so prevalent during his time. The recognition that he earned at the Olympics was not ticket to equality, and he realized this instantly. He cared not for the medal, but the respect that his art and skill bring to the man, not the personality that the public knows. Muhammad Ali was not afraid to be seen with the much celebrated and controversial Malcolm X, and he fought his battles with as much confidence and gusto as he did within the ring and off it. à à à à à à à à à à à Dubbed as the ââ¬Å"Athlete of the Centuryâ⬠, Muhammad Ali is known all over the world as one of the greatest boxers of all time. Indeed, with all bravado he dared call himself the Greatest. And he was, in many aspects not confined in the boxing ring. à à à à à à à à à à à Born as Cassius Clay Jr., he left behind his ââ¬Å"slave nameâ⬠and took up the name Muhammad Ali to assert his individuality and faith. His action has spurred black pride, as the man continued to prove to be more than just a boxer, but more importantly a black who is not afraid to succeed and fight for his rights. He refused to be inducted in the US Army as a stance against the war. He was imprisoned and stripped off his boxing title for his refusal, but he trained even behind bars and came back to recapture the championship and the peopleââ¬â¢s hearts. He staged his fights in developing countries that signaled a shift from first-world supremacy to an awareness of the existence of cities such as Manila and Kuala Lumpur. Muhammad Ali has visited and reached out to Afghanistan, North Korea, Cuba, Iraq and South Africa, going where there is strife and bringing goodwill. à à à à à à à à à à à Even after his popularity as a professional boxer has waned, his heart of gold shone brightly as ever. He promoted understanding at a time when there was discord in the streets, he embraced difference and stood his ground and pushed with his quiet way of battling racism ââ¬â not through force but through tolerance. It was through not harboring hate that he gained peace of mind and freedom. He was a living example to all the blacks who wanted to be free. He has touched the lives, minds, and spirits of peoples from all over the world, from impoverished countries, to ghettoes, to aspiring boxers. He continues to make a difference in the lives of those around him, contributing to research centers and humanitarian works, gracing Make-A-Wish-Foundation and soup kitchens. Even if his claim to fame have been his powerful fists, more lasting was the kindness that his hands have shared to countless people. Muhammad Ali was known for wit, charm, and cocky, especially his famous proclamation, ââ¬Å"I am the greatestâ⬠. à And the world agrees.
